To Whom it May Concern: When my daughter got a small weird rash on her bottom in June I didn't really think anything of it, but when it started to spread and wouldn't go away after three months I was desperate to try anything. Her Doctor didn't know what it was so she sent us to a dermatologist who told us it was Molluscum. I asked him if there was anything to do for it and he said cut them off which is painful and did not recommend that for my d... read more (Alicia, Molluscum No More treatment user)

Nature givith Nature takith away. I was completely skeptical of this. I had my mollscum in my pubic region frozen off twice and it was painful and days later new sores would form. THIS STUFF WORKS. two - three times a day and it has not only not reoccured yet but the scarring from the freezing is diminishing rapidly, and the untreated molluscum has gone away. Since i have to live with this virus i plan on always keeping a supply of this stuff. Th... read more (Anonymous, Molluscum No More treatment user)

My 7 year old has a virus called molluscum contingiosum - it is in the wart family but is very contagious. He caught the virus from his brother that was treated by a dermatologist for the condition last year. And after 6 long painful months of treatment he got rid of it. Unfortunately, not without sharing. I refused to go through the painful treatments with my other son, so I search the web for alternative solutions and read about your product. T... read more (C. Rating: Excellent I just can't believe how great this stuff actually is! My daughter has molluscum contagiousum, and everything we tried was not working. So out of desperation, I looked to the internet and after reading some testimonials, I figured that I had nothing to lose. The ordering process was quite simple and the information available on the website was more than enough to convince me to try it. So, I placed an order and it came in no tim... read more (Elizabeth Grecco, Molluscum No More treatment user)

Molluscum is a skin disease caused by the poxvirus this virus causes tiny clusters of flesh colored or pearly bumps, which are benign tumors. The virus is spread through skin-to-skin contact it has evolved into a (STD) sexually transmitted disease in adults. Lesions caused by the molluscum virus can be found anywhere on the body except on the palm of the hands, and the soles of the feet. Those with low immune systems as in HIV patients are more likely to suffer more severe outbreaks. Molluscum virus can cause inflamed lesions, to cover the entire body and high fevers which may result in a stay in the hospital. HIV patients should ask their health care provider, about the benefits of taking vitamin A, C, E, to aid in building a stronger immune system.

Sexual contact is the most common way the virus is transmitted between adults. Using condoms is a way of protecting one’s self and their partner from the infection of the molluscum virus, but condoms are not 100% safe. The entire infected area may not have been covered, or some of the infected skin cells may have made their way to the genital area, thus causing the partner to become infected with Molluscum virus. Taking showers or baths with an infected person will also cause molluscum infection, as will the sharing of towels, bed linen, and clothing when a partner has an outbreak. Sex toy’s and the hand’s of a partner that has touched an infected lesion then touching the genital area of a partner will spread the molluscum virus also. Currently there are no medications, nor treatments to cure or eradicate the molluscum virus. Abstaining from sexual activity while a person is suffering an outbreak may prevent their partner from becoming infected with the molluscum virus. The most intelligent course a couple could take, would be talking to their health care provider and following his, or her advice in educating themselves with std information and practicing safer sex.

Molluscum is more common in children the lesions will be found on their face, trunk of the body, arms and legs. The molluscum virus thrives in warm, moist tropical places, in poor over crowded communities, schools, prisons, anywhere people are confined and cleanness is an issue. Molluscum is spread from child, to child, through handling objects that an infected child has held, using each other’s cloths, and towels. Children play hard and perspire therefore, rubbing their face, and arms a perfect environment for the molluscum virus. The lesions caused by the molluscum virus may disappear by themselves, or they may cause bleeding due to being scratched, or picking at them. Lesions found on the face may spread and become inflamed. When inflammation, or bleeding occurs the child needs to see a health care provider immediately. Molluscum can cause disfiguring scares that affect the face, which the child will live with for the rest of their lives. Health care providers may choose to remove the molluscum lesions, to save the child from becoming disfigured.

Some of the methods used to remove the molluscum lesions are as follows.

Cidofovir is a nucleoside analog that displays, potent antiviral properties. This molluscum treatment is applied topically, or through intralesional injections. Cidofovir 3% cream has been successful in the treatment of the molluscum lesions. Molluscum lesions may disappear within a month. The extreme cost of this procedure is the reason that most insurance providers decline payment.

Cryosurgery is one of the most common procedures performed by health care providers. This molluscum procedure is quick, and efficient, a topical anesthesia will be applied to the infected area before the lesions are removed. Liquid nitrogen, dry ice, or frigiderm are the agents used to remove the molluscum lesions. One of these agents will be applied to the infected areas on a patient’s body, in two, to three-week intervals until the lesions disappear. Hypopigmentation and scaring may be a result of this molluscum procedure.

Laser surgery is quick, clean, effective, and well tolerated by patients. After using the laser procedure there are no visible scares, nor loss of color pigmentation. Studies show that through using this molluscum procedure to remove lesion’s 99% of the lesions disappear. Insurance providers find that this procedure is not cost effective, due to the fact that the lesions may return.

Imiquimod 5% cream is topically used to treat the molluscum lesions. There may be some irritation where the cream is applied for a few days; this is common in most patients. This molluscum treatment procedure aids in the building of a stronger immune system. Health care providers have stated that when using this molluscum removal procedure there were no toxic, or systemic side effects with children. The imiquimod 3% cream is applied nightly for, four weeks then discontinued. A clearing of the lesions may take as long as three months.

Molluscum is a self-limited disease that may resolve itself, although in immune deficient patent’s this is an on going battle. Some schools and daycare centers will not admit children that are infected with the molluscum papules. There are several means of therapeutic destruction listed above, to speed the resolution of the lesions. A decision whether removal of the molluscum lesions is necessary depends on the patient and the destructiveness the lesions may cause in the future.
