A virus called Human Papilloma Virus ( HPV) causes Perianal warts. Perianal warts are often times referred to as condyloma acuminata. Majority of perianal warts eruptions are caused by the HVP strain 6 and HVP strain 11. Perianal warts are commonly found in the areas are the penis, vagina, cervix, vulva, and genital area. There are more than 60 types of virus that causes perianal warts. These genital warts appear in wet areas surrounding the vaginal entrance, penis and outer part to the rectum. Perianal warts may be felt, red or pinkish colored warts that if infected has a foul odor. They may come in or may be so small without being noticed. They may come out without symptoms, or does not cause any itching or burning sensation, or even pain.
Perianal warts can be transmitted sexually through an infected single or multiple partners. Engaging in unsafe sex or not using condoms could easily spread the disease. Poor sanitary living conditions and poor hygiene could also be a known risk in spreading the virus. Some possible complications of perianal warts include male urinary obstruction and cervical cancer. Perianal warts may appear six weeks to more even eight months from the time you contracted the disease with an HVP infected person. You may seem to have it but unnoticed which is very risky to your sexual partner. Sometimes many people with HPV do not know they have them, yet the virus already resides in t heir body. That is why it is recommended for women to have regular Pap smear test to make sure that no problems have been caused by HPV.
There are several procedures to treat perianal warts. Anyone infected with the disease should seek medical advice to diagnose and determine what kind of treatment is applicable. Other diagnostic procedures include cryotherapy, colposcopy, androscopy, anoscopy , biopsy of the tissue and Pap smear Test. Smaller perianal warts are treated using a chemical solution applied to the warts. Larger warts may require laser treatment, electrocautery or surgical excision. Although the perianal warts could have physically removed, yet the body may not be immuned to the virus and could recur again. Don't treat perianal warts over the counter drugs used for other warts. Perianal warts are more sensitive and could make the area sore.
Pregnant women who suspects that they have perianal warts should be treated accordingly as the virus could harm the baby or pass it on during birth. Perianal warts multiply and grow larger during pregnancy. Before delivery, it is advisable that these arts have to be removed because these warts are highly contagious at the time of delivery and can transmit the infection from the mother to the baby. Perianal warts are treated depending on the size and location.
Sexual abstinence is the best way to prevent the perianal warts. Avoid having sex with an infected partner. Using condom for protection does not guarantee 100 % that you may not catch the disease. Maintain genital hygiene s excessive vaginal or anal discharges are favorable conditions to develop perianal warts. Have a healthy lifestyle. Avoid smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol. This intake increases the risk of contracting perianal warts virus and development of cancer many folds.
