Eye shingles is a disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus infecting the nerves in the eyes. You can get infected with eye shingles if the virus runs through the forehead near the eyes or on the tip of your nose. Eye shingle virus can spread around the area forehead or cheek to the upper or lower eyelids.

Symptoms of eye shingles are usually rashes and may cause redness of the mucous membrane covering the white of the eye.
