The Child Molluscum Contagiosum virus can be found worldwide with a higher distribution in the tropical areas. The disease is called Child Molluscum Contagiosum because it is more prevalent in children that will give them the lesions involving the face, trunk, and extremities. The immune system of the children is weak and that is why they can easily get affected by Child Molluscum Contagiosum. The disease is widespread with a higher incidence within institutions and communities where overcrowding, poor hygiene, and poverty cause its spread.

I was surprised to know that the mollusca, which is one of the most admired creatures in the earth, has this co-term high killing disease Child Molluscum Contagiosum. Although in research, it does not pin point that the cause of Child Molluscum Contagiosum comes from the mollusca itself. I hope it is not because these creatures are the best wonders of the world and they are one of the biggest family and they are countless, everywhere they can be found. I hope it’s just by the name. Bateman first described the disease in 1817. The term molluscum was used to describe the pedunculated appearance, and the term contagiosum was used to connote that the disease is transmissible.
The Child Molluscum Contagiosum, a cutaneous and mucosal eruption caused by a Molluscipox virus, was first described and later assigned its name by Bateman in the beginning of the nineteenth century.

It is upsetting to know that over the last 30 years the Child Molluscum Contagiosum incidence has been increasing, mainly as a sexually transmitted disease. Why this is so? Because of the extensive result of concurrent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. The worldwide incidence is estimated to be between 2% and 8%. The 5% of which are children that are believed to be infected.

While most of the children enjoy beach walking and they enjoy the beauty of the mollusca family, they are the targets of Child Molluscum Contagiosum, which I hope is just a co-name. As the Child Molluscum Contagiosum is a common childhood illness caused by a virus that occurs in about one is to two hundred children under the age of ten, it is also epidemic as a sexually transmitted disease among sexually active adults. All current treatment options for molluscum are all-encompassing, and may cause pain and discomfort sometimes.

It is heartbreaking to know that often as not there is no treatment recommended yet since the bruise or swelling are harmless and eventually will go away. However for children, the unsightly rash often spreads and scarring may occur. The Child Molluscum Contagiosum can last for three to five years, which is discomforting to the child and to parents as well. There is some evidence that a skin fungus may work in concert with the molluscum virus to cause the warty bumps and these are cases that must be avoided.

The Child Molluscum Contagiosum is transmitted primarily through direct skin contact with an infected individual. The Fomites, which can inanimate object capable of transmitting infectious organisms from one individual to another, have been suggested as another source of infection. The Child Molluscum Contagiosum was reported to be acquired from bath towels, tattoo instruments, and in beauty parlors and Turkish baths. It is sad to know that the average incubation time is between two and seven weeks with a range extending out to six months.
