Moles can potentially become bad and the three stages of bad moles can identify how serious the skin problem is. Through biopsy, the presence of melanoma can be confirmed and it is important to know which among three stages of bad moles has the moles reached in order to get proper treatment and cure. If the doctor confirms the stage of bad moles both the patient and the doctor will decide which method of treatment is used.

Knowing the three stages of bad moles through the measurement and thickness of the tumor, the doctor will determine what stage it has reached before deciding on a particular treatment. The doctor can determine if the tumor has spread to the other parts of the skin and the body organs. Along with that the doctor will examine all the parts of the body and test them accordingly. These tests include blood works, x-rays, scans and others.

The three stages of bad moles can be determined using the TMN staging system where T stands for tumor thickness and how big is the size of the growth and how far it has spread. When it comes to the tumor thickness, a tumor with 4 mm thick or less has not spread to the other parts of the body yet. This is the early stage representing Stage 1-2 of the bad moles. At this stage surgical removal of bad moles is required and there is 80-90 % chance that melanoma will be cured.

N stands for lymph nodes means and whether the tumor has spread to the lymph nodes. This is represented by Stages 3- 4 and with 20-50 % chances of cure. The melanoma may either spread to the lymph nodes or to more distant parts of the body. When there are cancer cells that spread to the lymph nodes, Lymphadenectomy surgery is required to remove cancerous lymph nodes. Removing lymph nodes will cure melanoma that has spread only to the lymph nodes and to prevent further advances to metastasizing. M stands of metastasis, and is the most advance stage of cancer. This stage will determine whether the tumor has spread to distant organs such as the liver, heart, lungs and brain. This is most difficult to treat and there are less chances of survival.

The doctor will usually determine if what stage among the three stages of bad moles the condition exist through biopsy. Whether melanoma is localized or had metastasized this is crucial to the person’s chances of survival. Generally the lymph nodes in the armpit and groin are monitored to confirm the presence of the cancer cells. The success of each treatment depends on the three stages of bad moles that occur in various parts of the body.

Melanoma is a deadly skin cancer however it is treatable at an early stage. The incidence of having melanoma is high in the US and this can be attributed to constant sun exposure by going outdoors or by using sun beds and tanning saloons. The UV rays should be avoided and by wearing sunscreen protection, hats, umbrellas and proper clothing, you can reduce the rate of getting your skin exposed to the harmful rays of the sun
