What people say about H-Balm

I was very pleased with not only the customer service I received from Forces of Nature, and how quickly I received the product...but with how well the product really does work. For years I have suffered one cold sore after another. I get them from pretty much everything...certain fruits, stress, drinking from a cup without a straw, you name it. The pain and embarassment finally got to me, and I researched online and found this product. It quickly... read more (Pam, H-Balm treatment user)

"I recently received my order of H-Balm and I'm so excited. I've been getting outbreaks every month and nothing seems to help. I take Lysine, vit. C, E, and also multi. Vit. These help some, but still my outbreaks have been horrendous! I've used H-Balm once already and the results were unbelievable. It worked so quickly, I was amazed. I'm so glad I found your web-site! I've been battling genital herpes for 9 years now and... read more (H-Balm treatment user)

What is genital herpes?

Genital herpes infects the genital area and remains one of the most prevalent sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). However, the sexual behavioral characteristics of those infected with genital herpes have not been well characterized.

If you have genital herpes, please be aware you are not alone.  It is estimated that up to 30% of Americans have genital herpes (over 80 million people). IN addition to this statistic regarding genital herpes, some estimate that 90% of  Americans will suffer from a herpes infection, including a cold sore (herpes simplex 1), sometime in their life.  More than 500,000 new cases of genital herpes are diagnosed each year.  The number of people infected with genital herpes is reaching staggering proportions.

Therefore, whether you have been diagnosed with genital herpes or not, learning about the genital herpes virus is very important.  On this page you will find additional information regarding genital herpes.

If you have been diagnosed with genital herpes, the herpes virus remains dormant in your system when you are not experiencing a genital herpes outbreak.  During this time, genital herpes resides in the nerve cells at the base of the spinal column.

Transmission of genital herpes

The genital herpes virus is highly contagious. Anyone experiencing symptoms of a genital herpes outbreak must be very cautious when being intimate with another person, abstinence is recommended as this is the best method to avoid transmission of the herpes virus.   If the virus has been transmitted, the infection is permanent.

If a person has oral herpes (cold sores), and performs oral sex on his/her partner, it is possible for that person to transmit the virus to the genitals from this action, and vice versa.  The symptoms of oral herpes and genital herpes are almost identical.

The genital herpes virus is very distinct. A genital herpes outbreak starts with one or a few small blisters. Without treatment, the genital herpes blisters generally last several days and then form scabs indicating the end of the genital herpes outbreak.

Recent studies indicate that people with genital herpes may be contagious at any time even without visible signs of a genital herpes outbreak (estimated at 1-5% of the time). This is symptom is called “viral shedding.”

Interestingly, when a person has a genital herpes, the herpes virus has the ability to infect more than one cell without leaving the originally infected cell. The host cell infected with the herpes virus may fuse with a new cell.  The result is a giant cell which has several nucleuses infected with the herpes virus.

The type of herpes symptoms associated with genital herpes can vary greatly. However, the signs of a herpes symptom or of a genital herpes outbreak include:

  • Itching or burning feeling in the genital or anal area.
  • Pain in the legs, buttocks, or genital area.
  • Discharge of fluid from the vagina.
  • Feeling of pressure in the abdomen.

Health care providers can usually diagnose genital herpes by visual inspection if the genital herpes outbreak is typical, and by taking a sample from the sore(s). Genital herpes std infections can be difficult to diagnose between outbreaks. Blood tests which detect Herpes simplex 1 and herpes simplex 2 infections may be helpful, although the results are not always clear cut.

During an active genital herpes episode, whether the first episode or a repeat herpes outbreak, you should follow a few simple steps to speed healing and avoid spreading the genital herpes infection to other places on the body or to other people:

  • Keep area infected with genital herpes clean and dry to prevent other herpes infections from developing.
  • Try to avoid touching any genital herpes sores.
  • Wash your hands after contact with any genital herpes sores.
  • Avoid sexual contact from the time you first feel any symptoms of a genital herpes flare up until the genital herpes sores are completely healed, that is, the scab has fallen off and new skin has formed where the genital herpes sore was.

Where can I get help if I’m upset about having genital herpes or I have an infected partner?

Concern about transmitting genital herpes to others and disruption of sexual relations during genital herpes outbreaks can affect personal relationships. If you or your partner has genital herpes, you can learn to cope with and treat genital herpes effectively by getting proper treatment and by using preventive measures.
