Using Micro-Organisms To Produce Lysine
The try out of using microorganisms to produce lysine was proven and tested effective by many of the scientists nowadays and has been a study, which they would want to improve everyday. Because like plants, microorganisms can synthesize all amino acids necessary for their proteins, besides this synthesis process is much faster than in plant cells. That is why scientists tried using microorganisms to produce lysine by selecting bacteria capable to synthesize more lysine that it is necessary for the bacteria themselves. It was their belief that this kind of bacterium consumes the nutrients that have been taken up from sugar, mineral nitrogen and etc.
As we all know Lysine is one of the 20 natural amino acids with molecules forming proteins. Proteins are present in the structure of any live tissue. Only plants and microorganisms can synthesize lysine. Man and animal organisms are unable to do that and that is why scientist found it possible by using microorganisms to produce lysine. Organism must take up the necessary proteins with food.
If a man consumes enough proteins of animal origin there is no deficit of lysine in the organism, but livestock lack it as their nutrition consists mainly of flora products. The deficit of lysine limits the rational consumption of proteins that have been taken up.
Also one of the processes of producing lysine is through Fermentation technology, which is the oldest of all biotechnological processes. The term is derived from the Latin verb fevere, to boil--the appearance of fruit extracts or malted grain acted upon by yeast, during the production of alcohol. Furthermore, the fermentation is a process of chemical change caused by organisms or their products, usually producing effervescence and heat. That is why even in this fermentation process of producing lysine, the try out using microorganisms to produce lysine is very possible.
Even microbiologists consider fermentation as any process for the production of a product by means of mass culture of micro-organisms and lysine as produced by this process will lead to a good possibility of using microorganisms to produce lysine. Fermentation and thus microorganisms are also used to make food additives. As well as imparting flavor, amino acids are essential nutrients, as they are building blocks for protein. Certain foods such as cereals contain protein, which is relatively low in the amino acid lysine. Lysine can be added to improve the nutritional quality of the protein. So it very close to an idea that using microorganisms to produce lysine through fermentation was tested that is using the bacteria Corynebacterium glutamicum and Brevibacterium flavum produces both glutamic acid and lysine.
In as much as lysine is very useful to the human beings like for the cure of herpes, which is one of the best killing diseases in the world, the lysine should be available and manufactured in the easiest way possible. The lysine cannot be produced by the body alone through the food nutrients that we get from food but we need food supplement that comes from an over the counter lysine which maybe in form of tablets, capsules, liquids and powder.
